The plea made by the RG Kar rape victim’s parents have been rejected by the city court on Wednesday. The petition have been filed by the RG Kar rape-murder victim’s parents to allow their lawyer to visit the crime spot.
Declaring the court have full sympathy for the victim’s parents but the accused have already been convicted. The court observed that no provision is present in Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) which makes the court approve this petition. Sealdah Court additional chief judicial magistrate Arijit Mondal said, “This court has no authority to pass an order emotionally without following the procedure of law.” Even though the city court noted that the council representing CBI has shown no issue with this plea.
The council representing the victim’s parents stated in front of the court that it is required for them to visit the crime scene except the Seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to analyse and understand the place of crime to get absolute justice.
The family lawyer has said “Our allegations, regarding tampering with evidence in light of an institutional murder and a larger conspiracy, found more merit in the court’s observations today,”. The victim’s family lawyer also mentioned that the court queried the CBI’s no-objection to the filled petition and raised concerns on their probe into this case. Adding to that, the victim’s lawyer and parents are yet to decide whether they’ll apply to high court or not.
The seminar room where the brutal rape-murder of the postgraduate trainee doctor took placed on last year August 9, is still sealed with a guard outside 24×7 and “do not cross” labels around, was stated by Dr Saptarshi Chatterjee, the current medical superintendent and vice principal of RGKMCH,
The father of the victim has raised concerns on the court proceedings. Many of the questions have been asked on the crime scene where their lawyer has failed to answer due to no idea of the place. They reached Sealdah Court to seek permission to revisit the crime spot. The victim’s parents also confirmed that they’ll participate in ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ , the rally against the state government on 9th August 2025.
