New Delhi is set to host the 16th Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers (NSAs) and High Representatives on National Security on June 22–23, 2026, under India’s BRICS chairmanship. The high-level gathering will bring together senior security officials from BRICS member nations to discuss key regional and global security issues, including counter-terrorism, strategic cooperation, cybersecurity, and multilateral coordination.

A major highlight of the meeting will be the participation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is expected to visit India for the event at the invitation of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. The visit is significant as it marks Wang’s first trip to India in nearly a year and comes amid efforts by both countries to improve diplomatic engagement and maintain stability in bilateral relations.

The BRICS NSA meeting is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation among member countries in addressing emerging security challenges and enhancing coordination on global governance issues. Officials are also likely to exchange views on regional developments and international conflicts affecting global peace and stability.

India, which holds the BRICS chairmanship in 2026, has adopted the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The NSA-level discussions are seen as an important step in preparing for the BRICS Leaders’ Summit scheduled to be held later this year.

With BRICS now expanded to include new members such as Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, the forum has gained greater geopolitical significance. The Delhi meeting is expected to help shape the agenda for future BRICS engagements and provide an opportunity for bilateral discussions among participating countries.

The outcome of the meeting will be closely watched as BRICS seeks to strengthen its role in addressing global security concerns and promoting cooperation among emerging economies.
