The Opposition Mahagathbandhan “no holds barred” campaign centred around the “vote chori” allegations and the spirited efforts by Prashant Kishor’s fledgling Jan Suraaj Party will fail to dethrone the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar, or so predict the exit polls. The average of all exit polls foretells a sweeping victory for the ruling alliance in Bihar.

The ruling NDA on Sunday announced its seat share deal with BJP and JD(U) bagging 101 seats each, while union minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest 29 seats in the elections to the 243-member Assembly. Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and former union minister Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will contest six seats each.

The first of its kind in Indian politics, Union Minister Jayant Choudhury has officially disclosed cryptocurrency holdings worth ₹43 lakh under his asset declaration. It is the first time a sitting Union Minister has publicly admitted investments in digital assets, and in this way cryptocurrencies are gradually inching their way into mainstream political as well as financial circles in India.

The Opposition’s campaign against the SIR in Bihar and the NDA’s response to the abuse aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother came up in a meeting of state BJP leaders with the party’s senior members, including Home Minister Amit Shah, on Wednesday. They discussed plans for the Assembly polls.
