Four-time world champions Germany launched their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in spectacular fashion, defeating Curaçao 7-1 in a Group E encounter. The dominant victory marked one of the biggest wins of the tournament and underlined Germany’s status as a strong contender for the title.

Germany opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Felix Nmecha, but Curaçao responded with a historic equalizer from Livano Comenencia, who scored the nation’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal. The German side quickly restored control, with Nico Schlotterbeck and Kai Havertz finding the net before halftime to give their team a comfortable 3-1 lead.

The second half was completely dominated by Germany. Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Deniz Undav added their names to the scoresheet, while Havertz completed his brace late in the match to cap a commanding performance.

Despite the heavy defeat, Curaçao earned praise for their fighting spirit and landmark achievement of competing on football’s biggest stage. Their historic goal provided a memorable moment for the Caribbean nation in its World Cup debut.

The emphatic win gives Germany an early advantage in Group E and boosts confidence ahead of tougher challenges in the tournament. Curaçao will now focus on recovering and preparing for their remaining group-stage matches as they seek to make further history in the competition.
