After the cloudburst in the Dharali village of Harshali valley, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the affected area. His visit was due to the the damage caused by the disaster and reviewed the ongoing rescue operations, in Uttarkashi on August 6, 2025.
Atleast four persons were killed and dozens feared washed away in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand after flash floods triggered by torrential rain hit the Kheer Ganga river on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) afternoon. Rescuers have managed to retrieve two bodies so far, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the village of Dharali to take stock of the situation.
In Dharali town, the hotels and residential buildings were hit by flood which were situated 8,600 feet above sea level, where video footage recorded by residents showed giant waves of water gushing through the area and swallowing everything in their way, including people and homes. Atleast as many as 190 people were rescued from this disastrous situation according to CM Dhami, as rescuers resumed their operations on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).
Four people are suspected to have been killed in the disaster that struck the ecologically fragile area on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) afternoon. Rescuers fears more people may still be struck under the massive river of sludge that buried scores of houses, trees and cars. Two bodies were recovered on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) and 15 are missing, Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said.
