On the night of 9 July ,2025 Russia launched its largest aerial attack using a huge number of drones on Ukraine. They had sent more than 700 drones and also fired 13 missiles. Russia attacked for the third time in two weeks . Ukrainian officials reported that these drones and missiles were sent to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defences and to stop Western weapons from reaching Ukraine.
The city of Lutsk, a home to airfields used by Ukrainian army was hit very hard. It lies near the border with Poland in western Ukraine, a region which is a crucial hub for foreign military aid . Poland , as a NATO member, disordered its fighter jets and took immediate and significant precautionary measures.
Beyond Lutsk ,ten other regions were stuck, one person was killed in the Khmelnytskyi area and two injured in the Kyiv region. Resident of Kyiv and other major cities spent the night in air raid shelters also includes metro stations. Kyiv’s military almost destroyed all the drones but some of the six hypersonic missiles launched by Russia caused vague damage.
Russia targeted Ukraine with 728 drones on early Wednesday, hours later US president Donald Trump pledge to send more defensive weapons to Kyiv and aimed sharp criticism at Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The Russian military confirmed that forces were aimed at Ukrainian air bases, meanwhile Ukraine fired drones into Russia overnight and three people died including a 5-year-old child in the Kursk area.
Russian attack included 728 drones and 13 missiles.This was the largest air strike of the war till date.The president of US said on Tuesday said that he’s not happy with Russian president and began to push for a settlement.
