After 10 rounds of meetings since December 2025, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill is likely to recommend no change to its clause proposing the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers or other Ministers from office if they are arrested and detained in custody for 30 consecutive days for serious offences.

A Parliamentary Standing Committee has urged the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the Union government to retain the Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) programme, warning against replacing it with the new Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Union government is weighing the option of bringing in Parliament an impeachment motion against Allahabad High Court judge Yashwant Varma, who has been indicted by a Supreme Court-appointed probe panel after the discovery of a huge sum of burnt cash from his official residence in the national capital.

Sources in the government said an impeachment motion in Parliament, which meets next during the Monsoon Session starting in the second half of July, is an obvious choice if Justice Verma, who was repatriated from Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court after the unsavoury incident, does not resign on his own.
