Nearly 26 BJP MLAs from Manipur, including former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, arrived in Delhi starting October 4 to push for the restoration of the state government. However, they have not been able to secure a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah or BJP national president J.P. Nadda.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi have not visited violence singed Manipur for more than two years. It was a conspicuous absence as the state was being torn apart by ethnic violence in which 250 people lost their lives and thousands were displaced.
Union Home Ministry officials are all set to meet representatives of Kuki-Zo insurgent groups on Wednesday (September 3, 2025) to finalise the extension of the suspension of operations (SoO) agreement that has been in limbo since February 29, 2024, when the Manipur government pulled out of the tripartite pact, a government source said.
