It has been over a month since Mizoram was declared India’s first fully literate state. With a literacy rate of 98.2%, Mizoram surpassed the Ministry of Education’s 95% benchmark under the ULLAS initiative very quickly.
Mizoram’s capital, Aizawl, has been integrated into the national railway network through the successful trial run of the 51.38-km Bairabi to Sairang rail line. Aizawl is now the fourth northeastern capital with rail connectivity, following Guwahati, Agartala, and Imphal
