Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (September 9, 2025) visited Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, States ravaged by recent floods following unprecedented rain, and announced relief packages. He announced financial assistance of ₹1,500 crore for Himachal Pradesh and an aid of ₹1,600 crore for Punjab.
The rivers in the Jammu region have become hazardous. Alongside the raging waters that had swept everything in its path, the slopes had started to slide boulders and trees which added fuel to the destruction.
The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, will soon be celebrating his 90th birthday. The attention however is on something else. There has been talks of the Dalai Lama potentially announcing his successor, a decision of profound spiritual and geopolitical importance, before he celebrates.
