Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to France and Slovakia from June 13 to June 18, with France being the first stop of the six-day diplomatic tour. The visit is expected to further strengthen the India–France Strategic Partnership and enhance cooperation in areas including innovation, technology, trade, defence, and global governance.
During his stay in France, Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice. The two leaders are expected to review progress across key sectors of cooperation and discuss regional and global developments of mutual interest. They will also jointly inaugurate the “Bharat Innovates” event, bringing together startups, investors, and technology leaders from India and France.
A major highlight of the visit will be Modi’s participation in the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, from June 15 to 17. India has been invited as a partner country, reflecting its growing role in addressing global challenges. Discussions at the summit are expected to focus on the global economy, energy security, emerging technologies, and international stability.
Reports also indicate that Prime Minister Modi may hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, including a possible meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. Trade relations, visa issues, and energy cooperation are expected to feature prominently in such discussions.
Following the G7 Summit, the Prime Minister will travel to Paris to attend the VivaTech Summit, one of Europe’s largest technology and startup events. He is also expected to interact with members of the Indian diaspora during his stay in the French capital.
The visit is being viewed as another significant step in deepening India’s engagement with Europe and reinforcing its strategic partnership with France, one of its closest allies in the region.
