 Philippines president Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. accompanied by First Lady Madame Louise Araneta Marcos arrive in Delhi for a five-day visit to India for strengthening India-Philippines relations and establish a path for future bilateral co-operation. 

The visit coincides with 75th anniversary of India and Philippines diplomatic relation. The countries are keen to expand co-operation across various sectors. Boost defense and security co-operation discuss expanding maritime patrols and joint training exercises particularly in the South China Sea, where both counties share concerns about freedom of navigation and China’s growing presence. Enhance economic and trade ties and also negotiate a bilateral Preferential Trade Agreement to boost the trade further. Discuss regional and international issues, exchange views on mutual interest, particularly within the context of ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region. The visit aims to create closer ties between the citizens of both nations through initiative ideas in areas like tourism and education. 

It is president’s first visit to India since he took his office in 2022. During his visit President Marcos will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2025 to hold a bilateral discussion. President Marcos will also meet President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. President Marcos will be visiting Bengaluru before bidding adieu to India on August 8, 2025.
