Pakistan Army in chief General Asim Munir, made sharp anti-India statements on his second visit to the United States in two months. Munir’s statement threatened to hamper India’s economic asset Reliance Industries Limited’s Jamnagar refinery in Gujrat which worlds biggest single site refining complex and has also mentioned India as a target in the future military conflict.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs responded to Munir’s ‘nuclear threat’ and called it “nuclear sabre-rattling” and “Pakistan’s stock in trade”. India firmly asserted that it does not fear Pakistan’s nuclear threats and is ready to take any necessary measure to safeguard national security. The ministry highlighted the concerns about the integrity of Pakistan’s nuclear command and control, particularly given the perceived close ties between the military and terrorist groups.
India expressed regret that these remarks should have been made from the soil of friendly third country
