Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin declared on Monday, July 6, 2026, during his maiden organizational visit to Jammu and Kashmir, that the party is steadily advancing toward forming the next government in the Union Territory. Addressing a massive gathering of party workers at Mishriwala on the outskirts of Jammu, Nabin asserted that the “lotus” is blooming robustly in the Jammu region and will soon replicate this success across the Kashmir valley. The two-day visit was strategically timed to coincide with the culmination of the nationwide Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee *Pakhwada* (fortnight-long celebrations), serving as an intensive push to review regional strategies and broaden the party’s grassroots footprint.
Speaking on the 125th birth anniversary of the Jana Sangh founder, Nabin emphasized that the landmark abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 realized Mookerjee’s historic vision of complete integration with India. He argued that the constitutional change brought “real freedom” and unprecedented socioeconomic development to the region.
“The dream that Syama Prasad Mookerjee saw for Jammu and Kashmir was fulfilled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The real change came in 2019 when Article 370 was removed.” — Nitin Nabin, BJP National President
To illustrate the region’s dramatic shift under the current administration, the BJP Chief drew a direct contrast between the past and present safety conditions. He recalled his personal experience during the 2011 Rashtriya Ekta Yatra, when the local administration imposed a curfew to block the national flag from being hoisted at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk. He noted that today, the Tricolour proudly flies there without fear.
Furthermore, Nabin highlighted a major cultural evolution among local youth. He stated that the young population, once vulnerable to being misled into unrest, is now achieving prominence on national platforms as sports champions and professionals.
The national president concluded his tour by chairing key organizational and core group meetings with local MPs, former legislators, and grassroots representatives at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, urging workers to sustain a rigorous public outreach campaign.
