Bhubaneswar, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu on
Saturday launched development projects worth ₹47,600 crore in Odisha, marking one of the
largest investment initiatives in the state’s recent history. The projects aim to strengthen
infrastructure, boost industrial growth, and improve public services across the state.The launch
ceremony, held in Bhubaneswar, was attended by senior government officials, industry leaders,
and thousands of citizens. The projects cover key sectors such as railways, roads, energy,
housing, and industrial development.Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said that the
new projects would accelerate Odisha’s progress and create employment opportunities for the
youth. He highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming the state into a major hub
for industry and connectivity.
President Murmu praised the development efforts and emphasized the importance of inclusive
growth. She noted that the projects would improve the quality of life for people in both urban and
rural areas while supporting the state’s economic advancement.Several railway and
infrastructure projects were inaugurated and foundation stones were laid for new initiatives
aimed at enhancing transportation and industrial capacity. Officials stated that the investments
are expected to generate thousands of jobs and attract further investment to the region.The
large-scale development package reflects the Centre’s focus on Odisha as a key contributor to
India’s growth story and is expected to provide a significant boost to the state’s economy in the
coming years.
