A political dispute has arisen in Bihar after RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav accused Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha of holding two voter ID cards, one for each of the Lakhisarai and Bankipur Assembly constituencies. This claim followed Yadav receiving a notice from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Digha, requesting him to surrender an allegedly fake Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

During a press conference on Sunday, Yadav questioned whether the Election Commission (EC) would act with the same urgency for Sinha as it did for him. He noted that Sinha’s name appears on the draft electoral rolls for both Lakhisarai and Bankipur, published on August 1. He pointed out a discrepancy in Sinha’s age on the two EPICs—57 in Lakhisarai and 60 in Bankipur. Yadav described this situation as not just having two voter cards but also as “age fraud.” He suggested that Sinha must have signed two enumeration forms for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR), implying a deliberate action.

Later that evening, the ERO for the Bankipur Assembly Constituency issued a notice to Sinha, confirming that his name was on the draft electoral list for both constituencies. The notice, referencing EPIC numbers AFS0853341 and IAF3939337, asked Sinha to explain the difference by 5:00 PM on August 14, 2025.

In response to the accusations, Deputy CM Sinha admitted that his name appears on both lists. However, he stated that he had applied online to the EC to remove his name from the Bankipur list after it was added to Lakhisarai. He claimed that this application was “somehow rejected.” Sinha mentioned that he submitted a new application on August 5 to delete his name from the Bankipur voter list and noted that the rolls Yadav referred to were only “draft rolls” and not final.

While Sinha did not address the age difference or the issue of signing enumeration forms, he insisted that he has documents to prove he is working to fix the issue. He also stressed that he has only voted from one place, in the past and recently. Sinha accused Yadav of trying to damage his reputation and demanded an apology for the “false allegations.” He referred to Yadav as the “prince of Jungle Raj” and said he was “simply trying to mislead people by providing wrong facts.”
