Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in France on Saturday, beginning a key diplomatic visit focused on strengthening India-France ties, participating in the G7 Summit and holding discussions with global leaders.
Modi landed in Nice, where he was received by senior French officials and local dignitaries. During the first leg of his visit, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron to review cooperation across areas including strategic partnership, defence, technology, innovation and other areas of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister will also take part in the “Bharat Innovates” event alongside Macron, bringing together startups, investors and innovation leaders from India, France and other countries. The initiative is aimed at highlighting growing cooperation in technology and entrepreneurship.
A major focus of Modi’s visit will be his participation in the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, where leaders are expected to discuss global economic issues, security challenges, energy concerns and other international developments. Modi has said India will use the platform to represent not only its own interests but also the aspirations of the Global South.
The visit is also expected to include engagements with other world leaders on the sidelines of the summit, with discussions likely covering trade, technology, global stability and strategic cooperation.
After France, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Slovakia for a state visit, where he is scheduled to hold meetings with Slovak leadership and interact with business representatives.
