“National Testing Agency Declares JEE Main 2026 Results; 26 Secure 100 Percentile”

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday announced the results of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026, with 26 candidates achieving a perfect 100 percentile, marking an increase from last year’s tally of 24 toppers.Among the high achievers, Aarush Singhal secured the coveted All India Rank (AIR) 1, emerging as the top performer in one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations. The exam serves as the primary gateway for admission into premier engineering institutes, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs).

According to official data, approximately 15.4 lakh candidates appeared for JEE Main 2026 across its two sessions. Of these, around 2.5 lakh candidates have qualified for the next stage, JEE Advanced, which determines admission to the IITs.The state-wise distribution of toppers highlights strong performances from southern states. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana produced five toppers each, followed by Rajasthan with four and Delhi with three candidates. The results underscore the continued dominance of these regions in national-level engineering entrance exams. However, the results have also drawn attention to a gender gap, as all 26 candidates scoring 100 percentile are male, with no female candidate achieving a perfect score this year.

The NTA reiterated that the JEE Main scores are calculated using a normalisation process, ensuring fairness across multiple exam sessions. A 100 percentile score indicates that a candidate has outperformed all other candidates in their respective session, though it does not necessarily correspond to full marks.Education experts note that achieving a perfect percentile in JEE Main is a rare feat, given the exam’s difficulty level and the vast number of participants. The successful candidates are now expected to be strong contenders in JEE Advanced 2026.The announcement has sparked celebrations among students and families nationwide, as the focus now shifts to the next phase of the highly competitive engineering admission process.
