Pabitra Banerjee : In an unprecedented security escalation, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke alongside key co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by the Delhi Police directly from inside their aircraft minutes after touching down at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The high-stakes preventive crackdown unfolded on the airport runway at Terminal 3 as police personnel boarded the flight arriving from Mumbai. Challenging the enforcement officers onboard, founder Abhijeet Dipke defiantly declared, “Arrest us! We are not afraid,” while questioning why authorities were targeting protesters before they could even reach Delhi and attempting to detain him inside the cabin. Despite the intense exchange, the leaders were bundled into a waiting transport and whisked away to undisclosed locations, while the political group vehemently condemned the move as an authoritarian attempt to crush political dissent.
The dramatic airport operation forms part of an expansive security deployment across the national capital, which has already seen the preventive detention of thousands of demonstrators, heavy security checkpoints, and sweeping transit restrictions. With opposition figures and supporters attempting to defy prohibitory orders ahead of the planned mobilization at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the unfolding confrontation continues to keep central Delhi on edge.
