The mysterious death of a young man near the railway tracks at old Bulbulchandi railway station in Malda has triggered tension and speculation in the area, with family members alleging that the victim was murdered. The deceased, identified as Gopal Sarkar, was found lying in bushes beside the railway line on Thursday morning under the jurisdiction of Habibpur Police Station.
According to local sources, residents first noticed the body at around 7 am near the old Bulbulchandi railway station. Initially, the identity of the youth remained unknown as none of the locals could recognize him. Later, family members arrived at the spot and identified the body as that of Gopal Sarkar, a resident of Aiho Bakshinagar Lal Chandpur area.Family members said Gopal worked for a distributor company and had left home around 10 am on Wednesday for work in Pakua.
Though he was expected to return home by night, he never came back, raising concern among relatives. On Thursday morning, the family received information that a body had been recovered beside the railway tracks. Relatives alleged that injury marks were visible on Gopal’s neck and claimed that he might have been killed deliberately before the body was dumped near the railway line. The incident soon created panic and excitement in the locality as large numbers of people gathered at the scene after the news spread.Police from Habibpur police station reached the area after being informed and recovered the body. It has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators have started probing the incident from all possible angles, including the family’s allegation of murder.Police officials stated that the actual circumstances surrounding the death would become clear only after the autopsy report and completion of the investigation.
